Lofoten Islands, Vagakallen, Freya. It was reported that in July, the German couple Daniela and Robert Jasper established a 30-pitch, 800-meter route, Freya (F7c A3+), on Vagakallen (942m).
The route takes the front face of the mountain’s most prominent feature, the north face of the Storpillaren (“The Great Pillar”). The couple on-sighted or redpointed in the first attempt all but four of the pitches. Most of the route went free, but the middle section had several aid pitches, the crux of which went at new-wave A3+. The Jaspers climbed capsule-style with portaledges to a terrace at two-thirds height, from where they finished in one long day. They descended to the ground, then climbed the route again for a television crew. (High Mountain Sports 197)
