Suitilla, Attempt. It was reported that a five-member team from Bombay attempted the “Peak of Needles,” unclimbed Suitilla (6373m), via the southwest face/southwest rib in 1997. The approach took nearly three times as long as normal (14 days) due to bad weather, landslides and porter problems. Base Camp was set up on September 14 on the Yangchar Glacier; ABC was placed below the southern icefall. The team then spent six days pushing a line through the complex, 600-meter face to reach the rib. The high point of 5800 meters on the rib was reached in heavy snow before the expedition was called off. (High Mountain Sports 187)
