Gasherbrum I, Gasherbrum II, and Broad Peak, Ascents. A strong 20-member Japanese Gunma Mountaineering Association team and an equally strong team of 12 Nepalese Sherpas scaled the three Pakistani 8000ers, Gasherbrum I and II and Broad Peak, one after the other in different groups and on different dates. The expedition put five Japanese and two Nepalese on Gasherbrum I (8068m), 11 Japanese and four Nepalese on Gasherbrum II (8035m) and eight Japanese and three Nepalese on Broad Peak (8045m). The three teams attempted the peaks via the normal routes and used fixed ropes on their climbs. The teams were as follows. Team 1 (Gasherbrum I and II): Nazuka Hideji (leader), Miyazaki Tsutomu, Baba Yasuo, Iwazaki Sakae, Ezuka Shinsuke. The Nepalese members were Ang Galzen Sherpa and Ang Chhiri Sherpa. Pemba Norbu Sherpa stayed at Base Camp. Team 2 (Gasherbrum II and Broad Peak): Sato Mitsuyoshi (leader), Yoshida Hideki and his wife Yoshida Fumie, Yanase Saichi, Iwazaki Hiroshi, Nakajima Koji, Fukumoto Masashi. The Nepalese climbers were Dawa Chiri Sherpa and Arjun Tamang. Team 3 (Broad Peak and Gasherbrum I): Goto Fumiaki (leader), Ogata Yoshio, Nozawai Ayumi, Hoshino Ryushi, Terada Tsutomu, Watanuki Takeshi, Tajima Takayuki. The Nepalese climbers were Danawang Dorje Sherpa and Norbu Sherpa.
