South Tower and El Escudo, Attempts. A group of at least six Swiss (names unknown) attempted new routes on the east side of the South Tower and the right side of the main (lower) face on Escudo. Both failed to summit after 40 days of trying. They used much fixed rope and portaledges in modern big wall fashion. Further details are lacking.
