Cerro Stanhardt, Tomahawk and Exocet, Ascents. The Bridwell-Smith route Exocet on the southeast face of Cerro Stanhardt remains the most popular venue on this tower, and the 1995- ’96 season was no different. However, despite many attempts, it is believed only one ascent of the route was completed, by the French team of Francois Marsigny, Arnaud Boudet and Frederic Gentet. This experienced trio spent their time in Patagonia attempting to link togeth- er both Exocet and the 1994 Anker-Gerberding route Tomahawk, which lies directly below Exocet’s upper half.

The French climbed Tomahawk on December 27 but were unable to continue up Exocet due to bad weather. They repeated Tomahawk again on January 13, but again, bad weather forced them to abandon Exocet. Finally, on January 15, they abandoned the linkup and climbed Exocet by itself. It is unclear whether they reached the actual summit.
