Chacraraju, West Face, Alpos-Facig Slovenija. In June, a team of climbers from Slovenia pioneered a route up the west face of Chacraraju (6112 m). The expedition of four climbers (Dusan Debelak, Viktor Mlinar, Igor Oblak and Tomaz Zerovnik) came to Peru in the middle of May. In Huaraz the Basque Aritza Monasterio joined them. Over the course of four attempts they managed to climb the face, which they named Alpos-Facig Slovenija (945 meters, VII+ A3 95 degrees) after the company that funded their expedition. They came to within 50 meters of the summit. A full account of their climb appears earlier in this journal.
