Sequoia National Park, Hamilton Dome, Before The Jury. When you sit on the deck at the Bearpaw Meadows High Sierra Camp and look east toward Angel Wings and Valhalla, you look directly at the beautiful glaciated west face of Hamilton Dome. Dave Nettle managed Bearpaw 10 years ago and started a route on this face that he always intended to finish. In September, after a stout approach from the west via the Middle Fork of the Kaweah, he and I climbed Before The Jury (III 5.11) via four long pitches directly up the center of the face, connecting several thin flake systems easily visible from Bearpaw in the right lighting. Four bolts were placed. The summit register bears only a few names, mostly heroes of ours.
