South America, Argentine and Chilean Patagonia, Aguja de la S

Publication Year: 1996.

Aguja de la S. This formation, although the smallest granite peak in the Fitz Roy area, offers superb climbing on both its eastern 1,500-foot face and its western 3,000-foot face. While it is believed there have been only a handful of ascents of this peak, several more were made this season. On December 19, the Anglo-American team of Julian Fisher, Charlie French and Cam Bums climbed a 1000-foot variation to the Italian Red Dihedral on the east face, grading it III 5.7.
