Marcus Baker. On April 28, Alpine Air flew Dolly LeFevre, Wayne Todd and me to 8,100 feet on the Knik Glacier, south of Marcus Baker (13,176 feet). That afternoon we skied four miles north to a camp at 10,500feet. The next morning we climbed to the summit from the south and back in 12 hours, encountering six pitches of snow and ice up to 50°. On April 30, we returned to basecamp and were flown back to Girdwood. Also on April 30, Kurt Bauer, Jacques Boutet and Brad Gessner summitted via the same route, and were flown out a day later.
