Fisher Towers Area, New Ascents. Echo Tower, The Tapeworm (IV 5.8 A3, six pitches, 625 feet). The major new line on Echo Tower is located left of Run Amok on the south face of the landform. Pitch 1 begins up an A1 crack to 5.6 loose climbing then traverses left to belay before continuing up a crack system. First ascent by Brian Warshaw and Brad Jarrett. The Hindu, North Face, Shiva (III 5.11 d/5.12-, 3 pitches, 280 feet). This was the first free ascent of the Hindu. The route follows the Forrest-Briggs route with a crux on the second pitch. Free ascent by Jay Smith and Mark Hesse. The Hydra (V 5.9 A3+, 500 feet): This landform was previously known as the Wall of Figurines and the Medusa. It is the prominent gargoyled fin that separates the Mystery Towers from the Fisher Towers. The route ascends the skyline edge and involves over 500 feet of climbing with the crux being the last pitch. First ascent by Tony Wilson and Duane Raleigh.
