Asia, India—Garhwal, Bhagirathi IV Attempt

Publication Year: 1995.

Bhagirathi IV Attempt. Slovenes Matjaž Jamnik and Silvo Karo hoped to climb the west face of Bhagirathi IV. Unfortunately, during the 36 days they were in the region, only three days were without rain or snow. They made 11 attempts on the face, reaching a high point of 5500 meters on August 22. They climbed the relatively easy lower 400 meters and then three pitches on the 700-meter-high vertical or overhanging upper part (UIAA VII-, Al).
