Bolivian Climbing in 1994. We suffered losses in 1994. A Pole died on Huayna Potosí on March 31 and three Austrians were caught by bad weather on Illimani on June 18. Two of them perished. On a more positive note, Bolivian guides Gregorio and Eduardo Mamani with Dr. Tito Carrasco made a variant of the Lyon route on the west face of Huayna Potosí on July 6. A rescue group was formed. I finished the construction of a climbing hut at the base of Huayna Potosí.
