North America, United States, Wyoming, Mount Hooker, "The Third Eye"

Mount Hooker, “The Third Eye.” In August, Steve Quinlan and I climbed a completely new route on Mount Hooker (VI, 5.10, A4). The 1800-foot climb is to the left of the Dockery route. Due to bad weather, it took Steve and me three tries spread over three consecutive years to complete this fine alpine big wall in its remote location. On our final climb, the sheath of our 400-foot fixed rope, left from the previous year, was shredded and we had to jümar on the core of the rope.
