World’s Seven Summits by First European Female. Having recently climbed Aconcagua, Frenchwoman Dr. Christine Janin became the second woman, after Japanese Junko Tabei, to ascend successfully the highest points of all seven continents. Her first was Mount Everest, which she climbed on October 5, 1990. Besides Everest, she found the Vinson Massif, McKinley and Carstensz Pyramid very serious challenges. She has climbed three 8000ers: Everest, 1990, Gasherbrum I, 1986 and Gasherbrum II, 1981.
