Asia, Tibet, Shisha Pangma, Post-Monsoon

Publication Year: 1993.

Shisha Pangma, Post-Monsoon. As more and more expeditions are attracted to Shisha Pangma, it seems, strangely enough, to be more difficult to get details on all of them. We are grateful to South Tirolean Hermann Tauber for information of his expedition, which was stopped at 7300 meters by deep snow. They had hoped to make a ski ascent. An incomplete report has been received about a ten-member Russian team led by Chemi Statayev. The group, including two women, reached a summit, but it is not clear if it was the main or the slightly lower central summit. There also apparently were two German expeditions and a Swiss one. We have not yet heard about the outcome of these.
