Himlung Himal, Further Details of the Climb. Our expedition was composed of Osamu Hanai, Takeshi Yamaguchi, Minoru Masuda, Akio Koizumi, Norio Kawai, Hideaki Toda, Osamu Shimuzu, Kazuo Higuchi, Eiji Ishibashi, Ki- yokatsu Saito and me as leader. On September 25, we established Base Camp at 4850 meters at the foot of the northwest ridge of Himlung Himal. Camp I was placed at 5450 meters in the icefall of the glacier of the northwest ridge on September 27 and Camps II and III at 6000 and 6250 meters on the ridge on October 1 and 2. On October 3, Hanai, Koizumi and Nima Sherpa climbed steep snow to the summit, followed on the 6th by Shimzu, Higuchi and Danu Sherpa.
