Petrie and Peaks at the Headwaters of Ovington Creek, Hart Ranges. From August 1 to 8, the British Columbia Mountaineering Club organized a climbing camp in the Hart Ranges of British Columbia’s northern Rocky Mountains. Eleven climbers were helicoptered to the headwaters of Ovington Creek. During the first half of the trip, the party made the second ascent of Mount Petrie by a new route, the glaciated northwest face, and climbed P 2470 (8104 feet; 2½ kms west of Petrie) via west ridge, P 2750 (9022 feet; 3½ kms north of P 2470) via south ridge; and P 2800 (9186 feet; 5 kms northwest of Petrie) via south face and ridge. All the unnamed peaks appear to have been previously unclimbed and were class 2 or 3 rock scrambles. Bad weather prevented any further climbing.
