Cragtree Crags, East Summit, 1991. Extending west from Mount Chamberlain and above both Crabtree Lakes is a long ridge containing a number of faces, arêtes and buttresses. Just west of the scree-filled gully that separates Mount Chamberlain from this ridge is a face, marked with two very prominent lines. Several hundred feet down and right from these wide fissures is a Yosemite-like crack system that runs from fingers to fists. The system ends abruptly below obvious overhangs about 200 feet off the ground. The third pitch skirts the overhang on the left and continues up loose orange rock to a belay in a chimney dihedral. Three-and-a-half more pitches lead directly to the east summit of the Crabtree Crags. Dave Harden and I climbed this wall in July, 1991.
