Asia, Tibet, Shisha Pangma Central Summit

Publication Year: 1992.

Shisha Pangma Central Summit. A Belgian expedition included leader Mark Baruffa, his wife Gille Pille, Reginald Roels, Kris Doom, Jan De Boe, Wouter Bebusscher, two doctors and a TV team. Like many groups before them (see item above), they declined to undertake the Chinese traverse toward the main summit but followed instead the north ridge that leads to the central summit. This was reached on May 14 by Baruffa and his wife with Tibetans Ceran Doje, Qimi and Khtun. In view of the dangerous cornices, they did not attempt to follow the connecting ridge to the main summit.
