Karcha Parbat. An 11-member team from Calcutta was led by Satyajit Kar. They trekked from Batal and set up a transit camp at Grelu Thach and on August 30 established Base Camp at 4900 meters. Camps I, II and III were at 5180, 5640 and 5945 meters. On September 3, Sabyasachi Bose, Asim Kumar, Ghosh Chowdhury, Miss Minika Kar, Gopal Roy, and porters Alam Chand, Keshab Lal and Rup Lal reached the summit (6270 meters, 20,570 feet). This was the fourth ascent of the mountain.
