Aconcagua, Ascent by the Youngest Female. Nerea Ariz, daughter of the well known Spanish climber, Gregorio Ariz Martinez, climbed to the summit of Aconcagua by the normal route on January 3. At the age of fourteen years and eleven months, she is the youngest female to have climbed to the highest point in the Americas. She matched the record set by American Richard Garret who ascended Aconcagua in the summer of 1984 when he was also fourteen years old.
