Aguas Calientes, Second Ascent. Brian Baker and I formed the 1991 British Andean Volcanoes Expedition, which lasted from July 28 to September 7. We climbed Licancabur (5916 meters, 19,411 feet) on August 5, Aguas Calientes (5924 meters, 19,435 feet) on August 15 (The local name is Volcán Simbad.), Pili or Acaramachi (6046 meters, 19,837 feet) on August 17 and Láscar (5641 meters, 18,507 feet) on August 20. All had been ascended several times before, but Aguas Calientes had had only one ascent, by two Chileans in October, 1971. At the end of the month, we ascended the Ojos del Salado.
