Asia, Pakistan, Nuating Peak Attempt

Publication Year: 1991.

Nuating Peak Attempt. Italians attempted to climb Nuating Peak (5813 meters, 19,072 feet), which rises between Biarchedi and Mitre Peak. Ferruccio Avelli, Antonio Longo, Teresa Messere, Marco Milani and Matteo Pellegrini arrived at their Base Camp near Concordia on the Baltoro Glacier on August 11. They attempted the central summit of the triple peak, climbing 27 pitches of considerable difficulty. The final attempt was made from a hanging bivouac. Still 150 meters from the top and 300 meters above their bivouac, they turned back to avoid being benighted.
