Thalay Sagar. An expedition from La Rioja was composed of Juan Carlos Bahillo, leader, Germán Bahillo, Francisco Claro, Ignacio Fermín Pascual, Santiago Palacios and Jordi Corominas. They climbed the American route on the west ridge, probably the third ascent of the route and the sixth of the mountain. They placed Camp I at the foot of the couloir at 5500 meters and Camp II on the ridge at 6200 meters. On September 23, Corominas and Palacios climbed to the summit (6904 meters, 22,650 feet).
