Climbs in Wrangell-St. Elias and Glacier Bay National Parks and Preserves. A number of expeditions reached the mountains in these parks from Yakutat. The south ridge of Mount Augusta is covered in a full article. Ken Brown and Alan Camplejohn made an unsuccessful attempt on the south ridge of St. Elias. A Spanish expedition reached King Trench and climbed Mount Logan with access from Yakutat. Walter Gove and Loren Adkins made an unsuccessful attempt on Fairweather’s west ridge and Kaj Bune, Doug Barlow, Mark Dale and Silas Wild failed to climb the Carpé Ridge of Fairweather. Climbers are invited to call for information about both parks and are encouraged to submit voluntary registration forms to the Ranger Station for climbs.
