Angel Wings, South Face, “Hell on Wings.” In July, Richard Leversee, Kim Grandfield and I climbed this route, located on the same pillar as the Rowell- Jones route. It follows a bold crack system just left of the aforementioned route and consists of several wide grooves. Most of the climb went free with some aid near the end of the third pitch and on the fifth pitch. Both sections involved minimal nailing, nutting and some serious hooking. After fixing the first three pitches, we completed the final seven (including “miles” of scrambling on the second day. (V, 5.10, A3.)
