Chau Chau Kang Nilda. Our expedition to Chau Chau Kang Nilda (also known as Guan Nelda) had me as leader and Mrs. Bani Bose as deputy. From Kaza we proceeded to Lanza and pitched Base Camp on August 31 at 17,410 feet. We climbed scree to Camp I at 18,200 feet on September 3, ascending up the middle of the southwest ridge and cutting diagonally across the slope below the south face. On the 4th, Camp II was placed at 19,300 feet. On September 5, Mrs. Bose, Bistupada Kanthua and high-altitude porters Tek Ram and Hukam Ram set out for the top, moving along the west face of the peak. After 7½ hours they stood on the summit (6304 meters, 20,685 feet). We believe this was the third ascent of the peak.
