Shahan Dok Attempt, Hindu Raj. Saburo Hiroshima, Makoto Nebuka, Fumio Okitsu, Masatoshi Sato, Mitsutaka Kudo and I as leader got to Base Camp at Horgojit at 4000 meters on July 22. We had hoped to climb Shahan Dok (6320 meters, 20,735 feet) via the Shahan Dok Glacier, but dangerous conditions persuaded us to try the ridge running from Shahan Dok II to the main peak. Bad weather and severe route complications stopped our try after establishing Camp II at 5400 meters. We had reached the lowest col of the main ridge. We hope to complete the climb in 1988.
