Silverstar Mountain, 1986. A new route was made in September 1986 on the northeast buttress and finally the east ridge. Dave Beckstead and I found interesting, sometimes very challenging climbing on the slabs and towers of this ridge. The route begins from a small glacier and ends where it joins the Ulrichs route near the summit pinnacles. The rock is very solid, being part of the Golden Horn batholith. The route was long enough so that a bivouac was made in the trees on the descent. (III, 5.8.)
