Gangotri Region, Indian Ascents. An expedition to Sri Kailas (6932 meters, 22,745 feet) was led by Bijoy Datta. Sachin Karati, Dawle Majkindo and high-altitude porters Tej Bahadur and Man Bahadur left Camp VI at 6150 meters and gained the summit via the west col on June 11. P 6166 (20,229 feet) on the Sweta Glacier was climbed in June by an 11-member team led by Shyamal Dey. On June 6 Indranil Banerjee, Dr. Susante Bhattacharye, Sandip Dey and a high-altitude porter Manjit Rai climbed virgin peak Yanbuke (5953 meters, 19,530 feet). In early September this climb was repeated by members of an expedition of the Ordnance Factory Trekkers in Ishapore. Bhartekunta (6578 meters, 21,580 feet) and Baby Shivling were climbed in June by an expedition led by C. S. Pandy. In early September a group led by Srikanta Mitra climbed Jogin I (6465 meters, 21,210 feet). A team led by Major H. C. Lohumi climbed Gangotri I (6672 meters, 21,890 feet) and Gangotri II (6590 meters, 21,620 feet) in June. Gangotri III (6577 meters, 21,578 feet) was ascended by climbers led by Miss Gangotri Soneji.
