Asia, India-Garhwal, Trisul Attempt from the West

Publication Year: 1987.

Trisul Attempt from the West. Our members were Santiago Alvarez, Juan José Iglesias, Baldomero Rodríguez and I. Until the end of August when we arrived at Base Camp it rained a great deal. We approached up the Nandakini valley in five days from Ghat with ten porters. We placed Base Camp at 4300 meters and Camp I three days later at 5100 meters. Camp II was placed at 5950 meters two days after that. We had to give up at about 6350 meters because our superlight equipment made the climb too hazardous. The west face of Trisul is very interesting and offers many routes of great difficulty.
