Publication Year: 1987.

Aconcagua, Clean-Up Operation. The operation “Aseo del Aconcagua” was undertaken by 18 members of the Club Universitario de Andinismo, Mendoza, seven of whom were women and all under 24. Their objective was to clean up the normal route on Aconcagua, from Confluencia to the very summit, which was reached, and cleaned, by three of the volunteers. Most of the rubbish collected in the operation was from expeditions from Western Europe which have a long and well established tradition of conservation and national parks. The behavior of these foreign visitors has made inevitable the imposition of fees destined for the collection of rubbish on Aconcagua.
