Everest 82

Publication Year: 1986.

Everest 82. Moscow 1984. 360 pages, 162 pages of illustrations in color. Not priced.

This account of the highly successful Soviet expedition to Everest describes the climb and some of the scientific data obtained. Eleven climbers reached the summit, using oxygen, and there were no casualties. Unfortunately, the entire book is in Russian, in the cyrillic alphabet and thus accessible only to Russian scholars. From summaries of the scientific work presented in English elsewhere, it does not appear that much new medical information was obtained, but the splendid pictures make it of interest to all climbers.
