Asia, India–Garhwal, Bhagirathi II

Publication Year: 1986.

Bhagirathi II. A seven-man Polish team led by Janusz Baranek hoped to climb the unascended west face of Bhagirathi II (6512 meters, 21,364 feet). After nine days of effort, four members reached 6000 meters (UIAA IV-V, A1, ice up to 60°) but constant bad weather put an end to the attempt. Previously, during the acclimatization period, on September 4 Pawel Bujakiewicz and Jacek Kozaczkiewicz and on the 7th Wladyslaw Kacorzyk and Andrzej Pusz climbed to the summit of Bhagirathi II by the easy east side.
