The Colorado Mountain Club

Publication Year: 1985.

The Colorado Mountain Club. Our club conducted more than 250 trips during 1984 ranging from day hikes to multi-day backpacks and technical climbs. Our downhill and cross-country ski groups increased their trip offerings to members. Training efforts were expanded. Technical climbing, trekking, mountain oriented first-aid, avalanche awareness, and winter camping schools were conducted. Foreign outings were taken to Europe and Asia. Our volunteer trail maintenance program was enlarged and our conservation efforts continued.

The Colorado Mountain Club Foundation supported the publication of a pamphlet on Lightning and Mountain Weather, authored by the U.S. Weather Service, and reprinted the Snow Avalanche pamphlet in cooperation with the U.S. Forest Service.

The club is helping to support the American Everest ’85 West Ridge Expedition, and several of our members have received permits for future climbs in the Himalaya.
