Peaks on the Kaskawulsh Glacier. Six members from the Queen Mary College Mountaineering Club of the University of London undertook a two-week expedition to the Kaskawulsh Glacier. We commenced from the south end of Kluane Lake on July 11 and proceeded along the east side of the Slims River valley, taking 2½ days. On July 14 we placed Base Camp on the glacier between Observation Mountain (7500 feet) and Mount Maxwell (10,000 feet). From here, on July 15, Tim Hatch, Paul Huskisson and Ian Lewis climbed the hanging glacier to the west of Maxwell and walked along the northwest ridge toward the top. However, because of heat exhaustion of one of them, they returned to Base Camp from 9000 feet. On the north side of the Kaskawulsh Glacier, opposite Kaskawulsh Mountain and the South Arm, Hatch, Huskisson, Lewis, Darren Arkwright and I climbed an 8500-foot peak along the southeast ridge. Finally, on July 21, the whole team, including Julie Kieman, climbed Observation Mountain.
