Meru North. An all-woman Polish expedition was led by Danuta Wach. They made the first women’s ascent, following the Japanese-Austrian route via the northeast face and north ridge. On September 8 Aneila Lukaszewska, Ewa Pankiewicz and Danuta Wach reached the summit of Meru North (6400 Meters, 20,998 feet). On September 15 Monika Niedbalska and Ewa Szczesniak repeated the ascent.
