Publication Year: 1984.

Cerro Ugarte. In the course of a reconnaissance expedition to the Juncal-Tupungato area led by Alfredo Magnani, members H. Medina and L. Parra made on January 4 the first ascent of the unnamed peak (c. 4800 meters, 15,748 feet) that marks the end of the northeast ridge of Nevado Juncal. The peak was named after an army officer that has had a distinguished role in rescue operations and in the construction of huts on Aconcagua.
