The Colorado Mountain Club

Publication Year: 1983.

The Colorado Mountain Club. The C.M.C. experienced a healthy growth rate in 1982, adding a thirteenth Colorado Group and conducting more than 2000 trips. Present membership totals over 7300.

Our outings included a bicycle trip to Holland, a backpack trip to Cascade Pass in Washington, two canoe trips to Quetico Lakes, and trail building and maintenance work trips to Kenosha Pass, Chalk Creek, and Leadville in Colorado. The annual Colorado outing was held on the West Fork of the Cimarron area of the Uncompahgre National Forest.

We had an exceptional safety record in 1982. The Conservation Committee was active at the state and federal levels in the areas of clean air and visibility regulations, management plans for the national forests, and wild and scenic rivers legislation.

Next year trips are scheduled to Europe, Iceland, and many locations in Colorado. Our 1983 president, Glenn Porzak, will attempt a climb of Mount Everest.
