A.A.C., Cascade Section. During the year the Section sponsored several slide programs featuring local, national, and international climbers. In June Stephen Bezruchka described his 1981 ascent of Mustagh Ata in Western China. In the fall Doug Scott gave a program on climbing Kangchenjunga, Shivling, and Xixibangma. Later in the fall Jim Dockery presented a show that included slides of many major climbs in North America that he has done over the past years.

Our annual banquet was held in December. The program featured two local climbers who participated in the A.A.C.-sponsored climbing programs in Europe. Kjell Swedin showed slides of the men’s rock climbing meet he attended in Britain at the invitation of the British Mountaineering Council. Matt Kerns described his trip to East Germany and Czechoslovakia on an A.A.C.-sponsored climbing exchange.
