Vallecitos, East Face. Members of the Club Andinista Mendoza opened several new routes on peaks located in Mendoza province: Cerro Sosneado Sur (4800 meters, 15,748 feet) via southeast face by A. Randis in January; Cerro Laguna, (5034 meters, 16,515 feet) via southeast face, ice, by A. Randis, C. Santili, J. Vega in January; Cerro Vallecitos (c. 5550 meters, 18,209 feet) via east face, “Great Buttress” (Gran Pilar) by A. Randis, D. Rodríguez, E. Tarditti on January 31. This last route, graded as MD Sup., involved some 3400 feet of actual climbing on unstable rock and was accomplished in 11 hours from the base of the pilar. In the area east of Puente del Inca in the Relichos valley, D. Alto and D. Alvarez made the first ascent of Cerro Relincho (5150 meters, 16,897 feet) in January.
