Middle Fork, Tule River Area. In the winter of 1980-81, Patrick Paul, Gary Kunkel, Randy Powers and I made the first ascent of the “Powerhouse Wall”, just south of the powerhouse on the Wishon Fork of the Middle Fork of the Tule River, east of Springville. We followed the obvious central line for four pitches under many ceilings and eventually through the summit overhangs. 3 bolts. (Grade III-IV, 5.10, A4.) In November 1980, Patrick Paul and I completed the first ascent of the “Sky Garden Wall”, a 700-foot cliff on the north side of the Middle Fork of the Tule River, just east of Springville. We climbed a continuous crack system for six pitches just right of the center of the wall.
