South America, Peru, Santa Cruz, West Ridge

Publication Year: 1982.

Santa Cruz, West Ridge. Our Austrian expedition on May 3 tried to make the ascent of the northeast face of Santa Cruz Chico but we had to withdraw at 18,550 feet, some 500 feet below the summit. From May 5 to 7 Siefried Wasserbauer, Karl Antensteiner, Anderl Gressen-bauer and I made the second ascent of the west ridge of Santa Cruz. After our time in the Cordillera Blanca, we went to Cordillera Huayhuash where we climbed Yerupajá from May 18 to 22 by the normal route.
