CB 12, Ladies Expedition. Our party consisted of five women, Sachiko Yoshii, Hisako Adachi, Hiroko Yoshida, Takako Ikoma and me as leader. We went up the Chandra River to a point upstream of Batal where a branch of the river comes in from the west at 13,300 feet, where we made Base Camp. Camp I was at 14,750 feet and Camp II on the glacier at 16,400 feet. We all made the first ascent of CB 12 (6248 meters or 20,500 feet) on August 18. After climbing to what we had thought was the summit, we saw another one over the rock ridge and went on to that.
