Koteswar and P 20,214. A ten-man team from Giganta was led by Asok K. Roy Chowdhury. Unprecedented floods forced all other expeditions out of the region but this group pressed on to reach Base Camp at 15,500 feet at the confluence of the Raktvarn and Thelu glaciers on September 24. Camps I at 17,500 feet and II at 18,200 feet were occupied on September 26 and 28. On September 29 Chowdhury, Samarenda N. Dhar, Ranjan K. Mondai, Robin Banerjee, Amitava Majundar, Sherpas Mingma and Pasang Tsering and high-altitude porter Dawa climbed Koteswar (19,800 feet). On October 1 Dhar, Mondai, Banerjee, Sherpa Pasang and high-altitude porter Kripal Singh pushed up the Swetvarn Glacier and set up Camp III at 18,300 feet. On October 2 they climbed virgin P 20,214.
