Gross Bühlenhorn, Furka Region, Switzerland. On August 26 Pedro Casanellas and I completed the first ascent of the “Via Professori,” a new line on the southwest face of the Gross Bühlenhorn. The line, which I had noticed in 1971 while ascending the Villiger Pillar on this face, is obvious and direct, ascending to the left of the summit. There were ten pitches on excellent granite, nearly all of which went free, with nuts for protection. Fixed pitons were left in place at most belays. UIAA VI-.
