Sierra Juárez, Baja California, New Routes. El Gato: This hatchetlike rock tower east of the final half-mile of road from El Progreso mine to El Gran Trono was climbed by John Long and me. We ascended the north face, ending at the upper west corner. F8; 3 pitches. El Turdo: This is the massive rounded crag immediately south of El Gato. The road-facing west face was climbed via the obvious deep chimney in December, 1973 by Rob Dellinger, Debbie Winters and me. F8 or F9; 3 pitches.
