South America, Ecuador, A New Climbing Club in Ecuador

Publication Year: 1974.

A New Climbing Club in Ecuador. In August, 1972 a group of expatriate residents in Ecuador organized an English-speaking climbing club in Quito, the International Andean Mountaineers. The club meets every Wednesday evening at the Club Wildcatter Pub, Avenida Colón 1022, Quito and climbs nearly every weekend. In its first year, it has had over 45 outings, ranging from successful ascents of Chimborazo, Cotopaxi, Cayambe and Antisana to rock climbs and hill walks. The officers are Martin J. Slater, President, England, G. Warfield Hobbs, Vice-President, USA, Lars Eriksson, Treasurer, Sweden and Lindsay Mennell, Secretary, England. Visitors to Ecuador are cordially invited to the weekly meetings and to join us on weekend climbs.
