El Gran Trono Blanco, VW Route, Baja California. On April 17 and 18, TM Herbert, Tom Condon and I began with two pitches up the “third class ramp , a jog left, and up some hard-to-protect F9 face climbing (three pitons). Then we went straight up eleven more pitches, mostly F7 and F8, all free and clean except for a piton of aid at an overhang on the 6th pitch and three aid pitons in a steep crack on the 9th pitch. Consistent with our high climbing standards, we spent hours “creating” the Baja Hilton atop the 8th pitch. The final move onto the summit is F8. NCCSV, F9, A3.
