North America, Canada, Yukon Territory, Ulu Mountain, St. Elias Mountains

Publication Year: 1973.

Ulu Mountain, St. Elias Mountains. Organized as a special event of the Second Artic Winter Games, our party was made up of Martyn Williams, Scott Foster, Jim Boyde, Louis Lambert and me as leader. We all reached the 10,160-foot summit of our objective via the east face on March 6. This was an unclimbed peak, part of the Hubbard massif lying southeast of Mount Kennedy at 60° 13' N and 138°46' W. It has since officially been named Ulu Mountain for the Ulu or Eskimo utility knife.
